DIY Rose Topiary

I really MUST start giving myself more credit in the craft area of life. First off, we made a bunch of these for our wedding ceremony decorations (we made about .. 20?), which we used as pommanders and are much more thick and fluffy than the Martha Stewart ones. I see the Martha Stewart version in a lot of nurseries now-- and wish I had held onto ours to hang in Brooke's room! Unfortunately I lost all of them on our wedding day and they take too much time for me to make again...

I digress. I spotted these Rosette Topiary on this blog and thought it was so adorable, I had to try it out!

I made this one for my MIL for Valentine's Day:

This is what you need:

What you need: Streamers, Corsage pins, craft ball (the smaller the faster), a rod for the topiary, a vase, foam block and some floral moss

STEP 1: Fold the flowers. Lots of them. Lots and lots of them.
I used these instructions.

STEP 2: Stab the corsage pin through the end of the flower and cut the leftovers off

STEP 3: Start putting roses into the ball:

Don't you love our classy 'ball' holder ;)

It was at this point that Vance realized our corsage pins looked like diamonds

And he started putting them IN the roses:

STEP 4: Fit foam block into vase:

STEP 5: Cut stick/pole and fit into ball (Vance glued it in to secure it)

STEP 6: Fit pole into foam block

STEP 7: Arrange floral moss to cover foam block

STEP 8: ta-daaaaaa!

STEP 9: Find pretty ribbon to wrap around the pole (still haven't done this step obviously)

I'm working on another one as we speak -- dark pink, light pink and white. Will show you the end result later :)
