tumblr thursday + a question..
I am very excited for a new month. The past three months have been quite taxing ... I was sick, then Brooke was sick, then we got better, then she got croup again and then I had food poisoning ... so trying to be a glass half full kind of gal, I'm hoping that this month (and the months to come) will bring the mad load of health and happiness that we all need.
And I think Ms. Hepburn summed it up pretty well here:
Okay, so here's my question. I've been looking at engagement rings since I've seen some popping up all over tumblr (like this Disney-inspired set-- which is your fave? Mines is probably Snow White's) and I wanted to know-- would you ever upgrade your engagement ring/wedding ring? Why? Would it matter WHEN the upgrade was, or if it was for a certain reason (like a 50th anniversary or something)?
I heard this discussion on the radio a few years back, where the DJ (girl) had a very small engagement ring and a plain white gold wedding band because that's all her husband could afford at the time they got married. When their 25th anniversary approached, her husband asked if she wanted to upgrade to a bigger diamond, and she said "hell no" -- she was married in that particular ring, and why in hell would you change the ring you proposed with and got married in? She says it was a symbol of where they started and it was what he could afford at the time and she was damn proud of him for it. She concluded with the fact that he could always buy her a nice diamond ring for another finger-- but she'd never replace her original one.
I'm kind of torn on this (I am a huge sucker for big sparkly things, but I am also a hopeless romantic sap) and wanted to see what you all lovelies thought :)
