And a quick pregnancy question: when somebody asks you, "how many months are you?" how are you supposed to answer? Are you the type of person who divides the # of weeks you are by 4---so if you're 20 weeks, you'd answer 5 months. I don't do this solely because pregnancy is based off of 40 weeks and if you follow that logic, then it's 10 months long!
I usually just go off of my due date - the month we're in -- so October - May makes me 4 months. OR I'll answer, "I'm due in October"
Just curious how you answer this question!

I just say how many weeks I am. People usually dont mind that.
ReplyDeleteI know..I had the same problem w/I was pregnant! Most people (well those who aren't pregnant or havent been in a very long time!) don't know we don't go by months but weeks. I always just said how many weeks I was (and on occasion..when they'd look confused for instance) along with how many months I 'thought' I was!
ReplyDeleteYour girl is sooo cute.
ReplyDeleteI usually either say how many weeks I am, but I've found a lot of people don't generally know how far along that is. So for the past few weeks I've been saying "about halfway!" but now that that milestone has come and gone, I'll probably say 6 months. Haha. It's all so confusing!
I once heard an interesting explanation of this, which was that Westerners usually think of a pregnancy as 9 months, because we think of a "month" as 30 days (9x30 = 270 days), but in Asia they actually do say that you're pregnant for 10 months, because they think of a month according to the lunar calendar, which is 28 days (10x28 = 280 days). The Asian way (or just saying that you're pregnant for 10 months) is probably more accurate since women's cycles are also 28 days...
ReplyDeletewell, I respectfully disagree with Robin :). First of all most womens cycles aren't a perfect 28 days. I was charting with my last two babies and my cycles were in the 35-37 day range. Much longer than normal. Awesome when not trying to get pregnant, not too awesome when trying to get pregnant!
ReplyDeleteI am 100% the same as you Lori, I go off my due date. So I said I was 9 months pregnant when I hit my due date (Dec. 28th). I was 8 months pregnant on November 28th, 7 months on October 28th, etc. etc. One of my pet peeves is people who say they are pregnant for 10 months. OMG no you arent. LOL.
I love all the pics. Fun week!
pregnancy is technically 10 months! gahh. i usually answer 24 weeks and if they give a confused look i say im in my sixth month. the book i have at home tells me what month corresponds to which month, so i just go by that.
