House update: backyard patio

It's been awhile since we did anything to our poor house. Vance finally scheduled some appointments to work on his tattoo and so he's been MIA doing renovations. He randomly decided to plant some grass in our backyard patio, which also serves as the dog's bathroom. Poor Buddy only knows how to pee on grass, so he was subjected to a tiny 8x8 grass square :(

Here's the before:
Not too bad, but not entirely sure what was up with the red/maroon carpet

During:
Vance ripped out the carpet, putting lil' Brooke to work!

After:
Grass is planted and watered... Vance still not happy because the left side is uneven. Only a detail-oriented person would notice that. Clearly I am not one of them because I didn't see it until he pointed out how much it bothered him.

Tada! He still needs to powerwash the patio area to rid some of the carpet glue and we are considering extending the house, so we'll see...

What's left:
Brooke's bathroom: total re-do-- demo cabinets, take out toilet, replace cabinets, sink, vanity, lights, repaint, re-floor, etc
Stairs: Need to finish scraping whatever kind of coating the previous owners glued (UGH!), sand and repaint <-- this is so time consuming and tedious I am dreading it :(

Pinterest

Not sure what's in the air-- maybe it's spring or maybe I'm sick of seeing too many ads and crazy DIY projects on pinterest-- but I've recently stopped pinning beautiful home decor/weddings/kids ideas and started pinning ridiculous, funny and just plain dumb things for my followers to see. I apologize if you happen to follow me on pinterest. Oh well. Here are a few that I am crazy about and made me laugh out loud:

Just a short update

Salutations! Sorry it's been really slow around here. Truthfully, I haven't been busy at all, I've been on spring break and enjoying my time off with my little gal. My sister-in-law's shower is this weekend and we're looking forward to that - - I think I may have gone a little overboard with the buying but there were so many cute stuff for baby boys! I have no idea why people say buying for baby boys is boring, I love looking at little man clothes :)

At the discovery center.. the children's "museum"

Speaking of toddlers... when did you take your little one to see a movie? I can't decide if it'll be a total waste of money and end in a meltdown but a part of me is tempted to try... too bad movie prices are so horrific!

6

Hard to believe that the boy and I have been together for six long short years. I never would have imagined that within the past 6 years we would have welcomed 2 dogs, 1 baby, 1 (town)house and on our way to celebrating 4 years of wedded bliss. Ups and downs, thick and thin, I'm a pretty lucky girl.. . who woulda thunk?

The boy, on the second night we met... he introduced me as his "future girlfriend" ... romance as its finest, eh?

dangit

Let me start off by saying that in this post, I may come off as a spoiled brat. I promise I'm not-- a brat, that is. I am spoiled in the sense that my parents have always given me everything I need-- and in most cases, everything that I've really wanted and seemed practical in their eyes. For example, they sent me to a private school in Oahu for high school, which is no cheap matter and loaned me their minivan when I needed to get places. So no, I didn't receive a BMW for my 16th birthday, but yes, I had wheels to get me where I needed to go. And I've always had a lot of 'stuff,' which in hindsight seem extremely unnecessary.

I digress. I love our house, I don't love doing the work that we need to get it where we want it to be. Before we bought our house, we were going back and forth between the one we purchased and another townhouse that was single level, a little run-down, and a short sale. It had a gorgeous patio and an extra outdoor area for the dogs to pee and run around in. It only had one and a half bathrooms, which was a big negative. We ended up choosing the house we have for the amount of bathrooms, the fact that it was a little more taken care of, just for... everything overall.

Yesterday I was perusing a realtor's site and saw that there was ANOTHER listing for the townhouse complex we had initially been looking at-- but it WASN'T run down and it WASN'T a short sale! & it is single level! And two outdoor spaces! And everything I neeeeeeed!

Ugh, I was so bummed. Had that been listed while we were searching for place, or had we waited a few .... 5 months, I would have been all over that house!

Finally (thankfully) I actually stopped to think about what a brat (!) I sounded like! As if it weren't enough to just have purchased a townhouse, I'm already doubting our purchase! How ungrateful. Lesson learned: don't compare things because you'll never gain happiness that way...

Cheeeeese!

with V doing so much work on our 'new house,' the amount of quality time we spend together is few and far between. so when my uncle came to town and had a family dinner, we took it upon ourselves to hold a little photoshoot in the grocery store ;)
