Forrest Gump

.. is one of, if not, my favorite movie of all time. Not only is it (in my humble opinion) the greatest love story of ALL time, but everything about it is so ... amazing. The story, the acting, the characters... it's been 18 years since it was made (WHAT?! I remember watching it in the theaters) and I love it more each time I watch it.

Jenny- "Why are you so good to me, Forrest?"
F- "'Cause you're my girl"

FG: "I'm not a smart man ... but I know what love is"

And I actually cried-- yes, CRIED-- during the scene where Jenny tells Forrest that he has a son and he asks, "is he smart?"

Because isn't that what we ALL want for our kids? To be better than what we are, to experience MORE than what we have, to have the GREATEST lives they can possibly imagine.

At least that's what I want.

first off, thank you everyone for your kind words :) we are excited for october! well, i am anyway. i don't *love* being pregnant like some women do and i gain a lot while PG, so let's see if i can curb that this time around, mmkay? we actually know what we're having already, but i think we'll keep it to ourselves for a few more weeks.

my sister-in law and her husband welcomed baby Mason on April 18-- two days before he was due. His birth was fast... he was ready to experience the world! He looks just like his daddy and so far is an easy going little guy. I can only hope for the same for our next one!

we also went to my high school's family fair .. brooke had a great time, but i hate fighting crowds and standing in lines for bouncy houses and fair food (which was delicious though)

Guess what?

Pool day

It's been really nice recently. The weather has been sunny, but with a lot of trade winds so it's breezy but sunny. I love it. I actually HATE when it's hot and sunny in Hawaii-- I prefer it a little cooler and love how crisp the weather gets in the mainland.

My mom bought a little pool for Brooke the other day who LOVES the water and she had a great time splashing around with my parents dog, Mimi

UPDATE: Baby Mason is here! He arrived late last night at around 10:30 weighing 8 pounds, 2 ounces. I can't wait to meet him, bring cupcakes and his first birth day present! So excited to hold my very first nephew!

On giving birth

My sister-in-law, 38 weeks + a few days pregnant. Little Mason fully baked, just nice and comfortable...

My sister-in-law is due to give birth on the 20th. She's at the impatient point where all of her focus is on when & how will it happen?

I don't blame her. In 3(!) short days, she'll hit 40 weeks and by then, I had a 2 week old baby, exhausted but deliriously happy.

At what week did you give birth? How did it happen? Did you try any techniqes to "force" you into labor?

... Nope, not going to be one of those cruel people who comments about how she looks or whatever. Just.... WHEN IS SHE GOING TO GIVE BIRTH? Is it just me or has she been pregnant for like, 2 years already? Goodness gracious landsake's alive!

everyone else is doing it

... posting Easter pictures, that is. Easter was so-so for me this year as I came down with the same nasty virus I get every few months. It's miserable :( We spent Saturday night at Vance's side of the family and Sunday dinner with my side. Win-win.

Brooke was in an excellent mood this night and had so much fun playing games, dying eggs and had her own little Easter egg hunt since she's the only little in the family (not for long as baby Mason will hopefully make his debut sometime this month!)

Sassy pants

This little lady, almost three years old, is the light of my life. She is absolutely hilarious, filled with energy and life ... I can't contain how much I love her.

Here's a few snippets we've been cracking up over recently:

B: "Grandma"
My mom: "Yes Brooke"
B: "My ah-choo is not working"
My mom: "WHAT?"
B: ... "my ah-choo. It's not working"

Me: "Brooke, what is your daddy's name?"
B: "Daddy Vance Macaroni and Cheese"

B: "Mommy, I need some-fing"
Me: "What do you need? What are you going to do?"
B: "I need some-fing to unscroove the fan to put batteries"
Me: "What are you going to do?"
B: "Unscroove"

On watching the Twilight baby being born:
B: "Mommy, that baby needs a bath"

On my sister-in-law's baby in her belly:
B: "Baby Mason is my cousin"
Me: "Yep, he will be"
B: "Let's go look for him!"

B: "Mommy, that baby is crying"
Me: "Yep"
B: "Time to go home! It has to go in time out!"
